WESTLAKE, OH -- On August 15, 2012, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) recognized the American Society of Sanitary Engineering's professional qualifications standard, ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI Series 6000, Professional Qualifications Standard for Medical Gas Systems Personnel, as an American National Standard. The Series 6000 was approved by ASSE's Board of Directors in July of 2012.
The 2012 Edition of the ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI Series 6000, Professional Qualification Standard for Medical Gas Systems Personnel, parallels the requirements of the recently updated NFPA 99-2012, Health Care Facilities Code.
ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI Series 6000 allows regulatory officials to have uniform minimum requirements for qualified Medical Gas Systems Installers, Medical Gas Systems Inspectors, Medical Gas Systems Verifiers, Medical Gas Systems Maintenance Personnel, Medical Gas Systems Instructors, Bulk Medical Gas Systems Installers, Bulk Medical Gas Systems Verifiers and Bulk Medical Gas Systems Instructors. These standards also give uniform requirements for third-party certifiers so that individuals can be certified to these standards.
This 2012 revision of the ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI Series 6000 is essential for the nation's healthcare and medical gas industries. With the current NFPA 99-2012 and ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI Series 6000-2012, industry professionals can now be trained and certified to the most up-to-date standards for the continually changing and improving health care industry.
