Gerber Plumbing Fixtures, a leading manufacturer of vitreous china plumbing fixtures, faucets, and fittings for the residential, commercial and hospitality construction markets, today announced that CEO and President Michael Werner was named a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2012 program in the Midwest.
The prestigious award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Werner was selected from a large pool of over 500 nominations by a panel of independent judges. Awards will be presented at a special gala on June 21 at the Hilton Chicago Hotel.
“After globalizing our manufacturing, introducing hundreds of new products and strengthening our professional heritage, we are proud that Gerber is now one of the strongest suppliers in the plumbing wholesale channel. Gerber is honored to be selected as a finalist,” said Werner.
Although Gerber is an 80 year old company, Werner was recognized for infusing Gerber with the passion of a start-up business and for the successful turnaround of the company following Globe Union’s acquisition of Gerber’s assets in 2003. In spite of the worst housing market in history, Gerber has achieved record financial results in each of the past three years.
Now in its 26th year, the Entrepreneur Of The Year Program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 140 cities in more than 50 countries throughout the world.
Following the gala, regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur Of The Year Program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur Of The Year Overall Award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California, on November 17, 2012. The awards are the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, the nation’s most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
