DALLAS — The American Fire Sprinkler Association announced that Joseph A. Heinrich, president of Bamford Fire Sprinkler Co., Salina, Kan., has been elected chairman of the AFSA 2013-2014 Board of Directors, leading the association into its 34th year serving the interests of fire sprinkler contractors across the country.
Heinrich was elected chairman of the board during the Board of Directors' meeting at the AFSA Convention in Las Vegas, and was installed at the close of the 2013 convention.
Chairman Heinrich entered the industry as a fitter after college in 1972 and has nearly 40 years of experience in design, estimating, sales and administration. His company joined AFSA in 1982, and he has served on the AFSA Board since 2004. Heinrich has been involved in a number of AFSA committees and has served as chairman of the Bylaws, Legislative, and Contractors Support & Advisory committees. He has been actively involved in updates of the apprentice training modules and has served as a judge for the National Apprentice Competition for several years.
As chairman of the board, Heinrich also chairs the AFSA Executive Committee. Other officers elected to serve on the 2013-14 Executive Committee are First Vice Chairman Michael F. Meehan, VSC Fire & Security, Virginia Beach, Va.; Second Vice Chairman Wayne Weisz, Cen-Cal Fire Systems, Lodi, Calif.; Secretary Linda M. Biernacki, Fire Tech Systems Inc., Shreveport, La.; and Treasurer Thomas J. McKinnon, Aegis Fire Systems Inc., Pleasanton, Calif. Dwight Bateman, Southeast Fire Protection, Inc., Houston, Texas, continues on the Executive Committee as immediate past chairman.
Other members of the 2013-14 AFSA Board of Directors are Don Albares, American Sprinkler Co. Inc., Harahan, La.; Don Kaufman, Kaufman Fire Protection, Albuquerque, N.M.; Jack A.
