The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association and PHCC National Auxiliary installed officers and members of the board of directors in late September at the 124th annual convention's closing reception at Navy Pier in Chicago. The new PHCC officers are: president, Jo Wagner, CTO Inc., Harlingen, Texas; president-elect, Jim Finley, C. N. Finley Inc., New Orleans; vice president, Joe Schmitt, Joe Schmitt & Sons Plumbing & Heating, Englewood, Ohio; and secretary, Frank Maddalon, F. R. Maddalon Plumbing & Heating, Trenton, N.J. Installed as PHCC board of directors, who will serve three-year terms, are: Zone 1: Ron Dunsmoor, Eastern Mechanical, Biddeford, Maine, representing Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont; Zone 2: George Raburn, Raburn & Raburn, Stockbridge, Ga., representing Georgia, Kentucky and North Carolina; Zone 3: Kenny Calkins, Cloverdale Plumbing Co., Meridian, Idaho, representing Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. Zone 4: Craig Lewis, R.E.C. Industries, Bryan Station, Texas, representing Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas; and Zone 4: Mark Waters, Hoffman Plumbing Co., St. Louis, representing Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas. Two new PHCC board representatives from the PHCC National Auxiliary and Association Executives Council are auxiliary President Linda Bienvenu, Bienvenu Brothers Enterprises, Harahan, La.; and AEC President Bev Potts, Illinois PHCC, Springfield.

Mark Whalen, executive director of the New York State Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors, was named 2006 Association Executives Council Spectrum Award winner during the recent PHCC convention in Chicago. The AEC Spectrum Award honors outstanding achievement as a PHCC association executive. Whalen has been the executive director of the New York PHCC since 1997.

Coastal Mechanical Services promoted Jeff Geiger to senior project manager. Geiger has been with Coastal Mechanical since 1985 advancing through the company from sheet metal apprentice, sheet metal journeyman, project foreman, project superintendent and apprenticeship instructor to his current position of senior project manager.

The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association elected six members to its board of directors Oct. 11 at its annual business meeting. The newly elected directors serving four-year terms are: Rob Biederman, J.B. Henderson Construction Co., Albuquerque, N.M.; Tony Miele, Allied Blower & Sheet Metal, Surrey, B.C., Canada; James Rosier, Equal Air Balance Co., Orange, Calif.; and Robert Zahner, A. Zahner Co., Kansas City, Mo. The newly elected director serving a one-year term is Joseph Lansdell, Poynter Sheet Metal, Bloomington, Ind.

Vendors

Bill Blaine retired from Elkay after 12 years of service. Blaine joined Elkay as vice president/sales in January 1995 and was promoted to senior vice president/sales in February 2004. Before joining the company he worked 10 years for U.S. Brass.

American Standard Cos. appointed of Dale Elliott president/global Bath and Kitchen business and Donald Devine president/Americas region. Richard Ward, vice president and general manager/Bath and Kitchen Asia, was named president of the region. They join John Rietveldt in Europe, whose appointment was announced in May 2006, as leaders of American Standard's $2.4 billion global Bath and Kitchen business.

Grainger has announced that Court Carruthers has been named president of its Canadian subsidiary, Acklands - Grainger. Carruthers joined Acklands - Grainger in 2002 as vice president/national accounts and sales, where he has been responsible for the company's sales strategy and operations.

Chicago Faucets hired Matthew P. Hurley as vice president/commercial sales. He comes to the company with 20 years of plumbing, commercial, industrial and HVAC industry experience, most recently as vice president/sales and marketing for Anvil International and vice president/sales for Watts Water Technologies.

Anvil International promoted Harold Arrowsmith to vice president/sales for the Mechanical Division and added John Smayda as the Eastern U.S. director of sales, Fire Protection Division. Arrowsmith has worked for Anvil for more than 15 years in a variety of positions, most recently as the Midwest regional sales manager of the Mechanical Division. Smayda has more than 35 years of experience in sales and operations management serving the mechanical, industrial and fire protection markets.

A. O. Smith Corp. named Ronald E. Massa executive vice president/corporate technology and global supply chain, effective Jan. 1. Massa has held a number of executive management, engineering, and manufacturing assignments during his 30-year career with A. O. Smith Corp. He has been an executive vice president of the corporation since January 2005, responsible for global supply procurement and logistics.

Bill Dubon has joined ITW Red Head, an Illinois Tool Works Construction Products company, as an engineering manager. Previously, Dubon was engineering manager for Pentair Electronic Packaging.
