Shapiro & Duncan Inc. ranks No. 2 on The Gazette of Politics and Business list

GAITHERSBURG, MD.— The Gazette of Politics and Business released its list of the 53 top businesses and organizations in Maryland. The program, produced by The Gazette P&B, acknowledges the top 53 businesses and organizations in Maryland based on criteria that included the recipient company's noteworthy product or service innovations, community service efforts, and how the companies portrayed themselves as good places to work.

GAITHERSBURG, MD.— The Gazette of Politics and Business released its list of the 53 top businesses and organizations in Maryland. The program, produced by The Gazette P&B, acknowledges the top 53 businesses and organizations in Maryland based on criteria that included the recipient company's noteworthy product or service innovations, community service efforts, and how the companies portrayed themselves as good places to work.

The fifth annual awards ceremony held Oct. 25, 2012, at the Hilton Hotel in Gaithersburg, attracted a large crowd of attendees eager to celebrate the accomplishments of the top companies. The awards ceremony was sponsored by Montgomery College, Hughes Network Systems LLC, Montgomery County Commuter Services, and Rockville Economic Development Inc.

"To make the 53 list is a great accomplishment," said Trina Lapier, publisher of The Gazette P&B.  "This year's list features companies from the State of Maryland that have had success in a wide variety of fields, and each company deserved recognition of their accomplishments."

Shapiro & Duncan Inc. will be profiled in a special section as part of the Oct. 26, 2012, edition of The Gazette of Politics and Business.

Shapiro & Duncan Inc. was recognized for its exceptional growth during the last three years as well as its community service programs, including Montgomery County Student and Trades Association, the D.C . Students Construction Trades Foundation, Maryland Food Bank, Big Build at the National Building Museum, Junior Achievement, Race for the Cure, Children's Hospital National Medical Center, and S&D employee contributions towards an employee who had to take a leave of absence to undergo cancer treatments. Shapiro & Duncan Inc. was also recognized for innovation in social media, a new company website and e-newsletters. Sheldon Shapiro, CEO of Shapiro & Duncan Inc. was extremely pleased to have been named to the list of 53 Exceptional Maryland companies at the event.
