NEW YORK — This month in New York City, media members gathered at The Westin in Times Square to see what DeWalt, Stanley, Porter Cable, Bostitch and Powers Fastening Innovations have on the horizon for the remainder of the year and 2014.

The clear top organizer.

During the event, storage on the jobsite was a primary theme. DeWalt introduced three new storage solutions to the innovative TSTAK family of products. Commercialization Manager Naama Eylon said, “DeWalt strives to provide products that allow professionals to create their ideal storage system. These three new units continue to provide innovative solutions, whether it is portability, organization, or large storage capacity.”

The clear top organizer, model DWST17805, incorporates small parts storage into the TSTAK system. The organizer comes complete with nine removable compartments for small parts storage or, when removed, power tool or hand tool storage. The heavy-duty polycarbonate, clear, impact resistant lid locks the compartments into place. This prevents the items being stored from shifting and getting mixed if the box is accidentally overturned.

The deep box organizer, model DWST17806, provides users with the largest storage capacity of the TSTAK units. This allows users to store larger power tools and hand tools within their TSTAK system. A removable tray is included in this unit.

As the weight of tools quickly adds up and to allow easy transportation of tools, DeWalt has launched the TSTAK cart, model DWST17889. The cart features four 360-degree swiveling wheels for maximum maneuverability. Side latches securely connect the user’s TSTAK storage units to the cart. The DWST17889 is compact and light weight for easy handling and storage when not in use. A load capacity of up to 110 pounds allows the user to transport up to five TSTAK units.

DeWalt also introduced a new two-drawer organizer unit, model DWST08225, to its Tough System line of storage products. This two drawer unit features a deep power tool drawer and a shallow drawer with removable compartments for small parts and accessories storage. The DWST08225 is compatible with the Tough System cart (sold separately) for easy transportation.

Stanley announced the introduction of a 3-in-1 tool organizer, model STST17700.

“The 3-in-1 design allows users to carry their power tools, hand tools and accessories combined in one storage unit that opens up into a work station,” Eylon said.

The 3-in-1 organizer features two fold-out compartments with adjustable dividers for customized organization. Each fold-out compartment has its own see-through lid that helps prevent contents, like nails or screws, from spilling when transporting. The innovative design offers a middle section for storage, even when the organizer is closed. A built in carrying handle locks the fold-out compartments into place for secure transportation.

Stanley also launched the Click „N‟ Connect storage solution line, models STST19900, STST19950 and STST14440, at the event. The line is comprised of a stackable tool box and an organizer unit with removable dividers for customized storage, the Click „N‟ Connect is an ideal solution for homeowners and DIYers looking to keep their tools in one place.

Perform, protect

During the event, DeWalt also promoted its Perform & Protect line of power tools, which are designed to provide a high level of one or more of the following: control, dust containment or low vibration, without sacrificing performance.

“Many of our products provide the user with a high level of control, dust containment or low vibration and we wanted to make it easy for the user to identify these particular products,” said Jeff Beck, senior product manager, DeWalt.

Tools can bind up in normal drilling or cutting applications which can damage the tool or cause injury to the user. DeWalt power tools that meet the Torque Control criteria must have a unique method of controlling torque. DeWalt’s 2-Stage Clutch system for rotary hammers and E-Clutch  system for drills and grinders provide more control to the user in a bind up situation and can help minimize sudden torque reactions compared to standard clutches.

DeWalt power tools that meet the Low Vibration criteria must have 15% lower vibration than comparable DeWalt power tools. DeWalt’s SHOCKS Active Vibration ControlSystem on various DeWalt corded and cordless SDS hammers reduces vibration at the handles compared to hammers without such a system.

Using a dust control system can decrease the potential of users inhaling dust, increase visibility and reduce cleanup and maintenance costs. DeWalt’s Perform & Protect Dust Management products provide solutions for concrete cutting, grinding, drilling and chipping applications. DeWalt solutions for Dust Containment include surface grinding shrouds, tuck pointing/cutting shrouds, corded and cordless SDS drilling extractors, SDS Max/Spline drilling and chipping extractors, pavement breaker dust extractor and a dust extractor vacuum (DWV012) that meets the EPA Lead Related Renovations, Repair and Painting (RRP) rule for HEPA vacuums (when used with DWV9320 HEPA filter).

Contractors can easily distinguish DeWalt power tools in the Perform & Protectline by the Perform & Protectlabel that will be included on tools.
