PHILADELPHIA — The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors – National Association’s Construction Contractors’ Alliance (CCA) members learned how to “Accelerate Impact” as reinvented plumbing and mechanical new construction companies at the group’s fall 2012 meeting here.

Beginning with a Segway tour of historic Philadelphia, and ending with an analysis of the residential housing market and industry trends presented by Kohler Co. and Toll Brothers Inc., CCA members experienced a journey full of new ideas and stimulating discussions. Market-changing strategies, business solutions roundtables, discussions of shared challenges and more were available.

The housing market is improving, the fundamentals of home ownership are sound and, overall, there are many positive trends for the industry, reported Wally Schwartz, director of sales, Builder Channel, Kohler Co.  Mike Smith, corporate vice president, purchasing and product standards, Toll Brothers, Inc., agreed, stating that sales are “trickling up.” Smith emphasized that how well a plumbing contractor is in tune with the local market and homebuilders will determine the level of success achieved.

During a lean construction seminar led by consultant Dennis Sowards, president of Quality Support Services, CCA members and guests learned how implementing lean practices can help reduce seven types of key waste and deliver great value to customers.  They also heard from a CCA member company about how lean practices have created exciting new business opportunities.

The CCA sessions were held in conjunction with CONNECT 2012, PHCC’s annual conference.

The next CCA meeting will be held in late February or early March 2013.  For additional information about CCA, visit CCA on the Web or call 800/533-7694 or e-mail [email protected].
