Peter J. Minton has joined Murphy Co. of St. Louis as a project manager in its Quick Response group. Murphy’s QR group provides project management for mechanical, plumbing and process piping projects needing expedited schedules and ranging in cost from $1,500 to $500,000. Minton has more than 25 years of industry experience.

Christopher B. Hiemenz has been promoted to vice president/business development at Murphy Co. Hiemenz joined Murphy Co. in 2002 as a member of the business development team. In his new position, Hiemenz oversees day-to-day operations of the company’s sales and marketing department.

A.O. Smith Water Products Co. announced the 10 winners of its Professional Contractor Association Scholarships. Ten $2,000 scholarships are to be applied toward higher education. The recipients for 2005 are: Margaret Bertram, daughter of Patrick and Amy Bertram of Fond du Lac, Wis., representing Ahern Gross Plumbing in Fond du Lac; Chelsey Bloomquist, daughter of John and Ruth Bloomquist of Randolph, Neb., representing Peter’s Hardware and Furniture in Wausa, Neb.; Crystal Fryer, daughter of Michael Leanhart, representing Leanhart Plumbing in Louisville, Ky.; Kelly Jansen, daughter of Andrew and Lisa Jansen of Neoga, Ill., representing Wente Plumbing & Heating in Effingham, Ill.; Andrew Layton, son of John and Wendy Layton of Altamont, N.Y., representing Allen and Taub Plumbing and Heating in Albany, N.Y.; Tricia Lounsberry, daughter of Tina and Brian Lounsberry of Gobles, Mich.; Tanner McClure, son of Mitch and Jamie McClure of Colby, Kan., representing McClure Plumbing & Heating, in Colby; Eric Mueller, son of John Mueller and the late Sandy Mueller of Chilton, Wis., representing Moehn Plumbing in Chilton; Erica Russell, daughter of William and Cynthia Russell of Jerseyville, Ill., representing Perdun Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning in Jerseyville; and Stephanie Schumacher, daughter of Kevin and Sharon Schumacher of Effingham, Ill., representing Buhnerkempe Plumbing & Heating in Teutopolis, Ill. The scholarship program was launched to encourage continued education for PCA members and their families. It is open to high school seniors, high school graduates and GED recipients or students who are enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. PCA members and member employees, their spouses, children and grandchildren are eligible to participate.

The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association elected four members to its board of directors at their annual business meeting. The newly elected directors serving four-year terms are: Mitchell Hoppe, Melrose Metal Products, Fremont, Calif.; Richard Lomas, ABM Air Conditioning & Heating, Hawthorne, N.Y.; David Parks, Holaday-Parks Inc., Seattle; and Howard Stine, Charles E. Jarrell Contracting, Earth City, Mo.
