Frank Blau Jr.
Frank Blau Jr. did not enter the plumbing industry just because his father was a contractor. He entered the industry by choice. He founded Blau Plumbing with mearly $600 working capital in 1960. Since then, Blau Plumbing Inc. has grown into a multi-million dollar service company with financial staying power and strong ties to the community. Within his own success as a contractor, Blau’s’s true passion is to teach other residential service contractors to do what he had done and turn their businesses into successful companies. Blau has devoted his time and resources to advance this mission. He has written for state and national trade publications, focusing on the intricacies of financial management and presented to thousands of plumbing, heating, cooling and electrical contractors on flat rate pricing, correct mark-up procedure, budgeting, and business planning. In 1992, he realized his brainchild of a “traveling college of business knowledge” when he co-founded a new organization, dedicated to teaching service contractors the skills of running a successful business, which exists still today as the Nexstar Network.
According to Jack Tester, Nexstar Network President and CEO, Blau’s life work has been to raise the bar of professionalism and profitability for the residential service industry. “Everyone who enjoys the benefits of our industry — owners, employees and customers — owe Frank a debt of gratitude,” said Tester.
