WICHITA, Kan. – July 2013 – Viega Zero Lead bronze alloy fittings provide durable, quality press connections, while exceeding the state and federal lead-free regulations.
The Viega Zero Lead fittings are certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61, Annex G, which requires a lead content of less than 0.25 percent; Viega’s fittings contain less than 0.1 percent lead.
“By using the silicon-bronze alloy for the Zero Lead fitting, Viega can provide press fittings that are completely compliant with the true intention of the lead-free legislation,” said Paige Riddle, associate product manager at Viega. “Unlike various lead-free brass products that are entering the market, Zero Lead bronze is designed specifically for press systems to minimize the risk of stress cracking, stress corrosion and premature failure.”
Viega offers a complete line of lead-free fittings in copper, 316 stainless steel, Zero Lead bronze, Eco Brass and high-performance polymer which already meet the upcoming 2014 national lead-free requirements. All of its PEX tubing, PEX Press polymer fittings, PEX Crimp PolyAlloy fittings, ProPress copper fittings, ProPress for stainless fittings and pipe, Viega ManaBloc and Viega MiniBloc already meet the approaching lead-free requirements. The company has worked for more than 15 years to develop a proprietary lead-free alloy specifically formulated to be superior for press technology.
A leader in Zero Lead compliance, Viega has offered products that exceed the new standards for more than 20 years. In late 2011, Viega formed a cross-functional Zero Lead conversion team to implement all the changes required by the new standards and educate customers and distributors. The team is also working with product management and supply chain departments to coordinate the discontinuation of the standard bronze products and to ensure a smooth transition to the new Zero Lead bronze alloy nationally.
Viega also offers Zero Lead technical experts available through the toll-free Zero Lead information line, 866/838-8714 and up-to-date information on legislation and product compliance at Zeroleadfacts.com.
