ORANGE, CA — The new LG Air Conditioning Technologies Training Academy in Orange, CA celebrated its Grand Opening on Friday, April 17th. The new Academy is built on the site of a previous training facility, but will offer trainees new amenities and double the square footage.

The Orange County Academy joins LG’s national network of specialized facilities in Alpharetta, GA, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, and Englewood Cliffs, NJ, that provide training and insights into LG’s air conditioning and water heating solutions.

VIP attendees at the grand opening event got a first look at the company’s 2026 products, including HVAC, water heating and control solutions intended to enhance comfort, minimize noise and maximize energy efficiency under appropriate operating conditions.

City of Orange Mayor Dan Slater welcomed the company during the ceremony, saying, “LG Electronics’ newest training HVAC Academy will be providing great career opportunities in an increasingly important industry.”

Investing in the Skilled Workforce

The new LG Air Conditioning Technologies Training Academy includes one classroom with integrated display screens, a fully equipped training room—with equipment covering multiple legacy and new LG HVAC and Water Heating product lines—two additional conference room spaces and multiple workstations.

Trainings will use both the classroom and equipment training room to give students multiple hands-on learning opportunities. “We typically limit class sizes to 12 attendees to maintain a structured, role-specific learning environment and content is tailored to contractors and industry professionals,” Christopher Bradt, Senior Business Development Manager at LG said.

Rather than just covering product specifications, sessions will emphasize hands-on learning, installation best practices and troubleshooting techniques that participants can immediately use in the field. “We offer multiple training session each month, with plans to accommodate 600-700 attendees over the course of the calendar year,” Bradt said.

California Heat Pump Week

The Grand Opening coincided with the inaugural California Heat Pump Week, an initiative hosted by the California Heat Pump Partnership (CAHPP) that brought together policymakers, heat pump manufacturers, retailers, distributors, utilities, and other key market stakeholders to build awareness of heat pumps advance their adoption across California.

In addition to the opening, LG rolled out its Mobile Showroom and co-hosted distributor and community events throughout Heat Pump Week.

California's efforts to encourage heat pump installation though incentives, building code and other state policy is transforming the state's space conditioning and water heating markets as it works toward a more electrified future. “LG is excited to be part of training the building professionals that will be part of this movement through its new Training Academy in Orange,” Bradt said.

The Future of Indoor Comfort

LG Electronics  is an eleven-time ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year, a member of the California Heat Pump Partnership, the ENERGY STAR Heat Pump Manufacturers Action Council and the national Heat Pump Water Heating Initiative, and collaborates with the Building Decarbonization Coalition, Rewiring America and others.

“Contractor training is critical to advancing the adoption of heat pump technology,” said Steve Scarbrough, Senior Vice President and General Manager of LG Air Conditioning Technologies, LG Electronics USA. “LG’s Orange Training Academy is the latest example of our commitment to equipping contractors and installers with the in-depth knowledge and hands-on skills intended to support implementation of HVAC technologies across California.”

“We see tremendous opportunities in technologies like air-to-water heat pumps that can provide combined space conditioning and water heating,” Christopher Bradt said, “but we also know how important it is for homeowners and businesses to have low-cost heat pump solutions that integrate with their existing building systems.”
