Proposed Updates Span Solar, Hydronics and Geothermal Systems

Topics under consideration for the USHGC include updates related to heat transfer fluids and chemical compatibility, freeze protection strategies, auxiliary heating systems, potable water protection and backflow prevention, and piping system materials and connections.

Additional proposed areas include indirect-fired domestic hot water systems, ground source heat pump installation practices, subsurface testing and site evaluation, system commissioning and labeling, and qualification standards for designers and installers.

Aquatic System Standards Also Under Review

Proposed changes to the USPSHTC cover a wide range of aquatic facility topics, including water chemistry parameters, oxidation reduction potential (ORP), finishes and surfaces, and turnover time requirements.

Other areas include construction safety measures such as fencing and barriers, as well as design and operational standards for pools, spas and specialty aquatic venues such as wave pools, surf pools, artificial lagoons, float tanks and aquatic play features.

Industry Participation Encouraged in Code Development
