Watts Earns USA Today Climate Leaders Recognition for Fourth Straight Year
Key Highlights
- Watts named to America’s Climate Leaders list for fourth straight year
- Company set new 2034 goals for emissions, water and waste reduction
- Sustainability strategy extends from operations into product development
NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Watts Water Technologies has been named to USA Today’s America’s Climate Leaders 2026 list, marking the fourth consecutive year the company has received the recognition.
The ranking highlights US-based companies that have reduced greenhouse gas emissions intensity relative to revenue, based on independently reported environmental data.
Recognition Reflects Operational Efficiency Gains
For contractors and facility owners, sustainability recognition often points to how manufacturers are managing energy, water and production efficiency behind the scenes.
Those efforts can influence product availability, operational resilience and the long-term environmental profile of the supply chain.
The America’s Climate Leaders list, presented by USA Today in partnership with Statista, evaluates companies with more than $50 million in revenue that demonstrate measurable reductions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions intensity.
Watts Sets New Long-Term Reduction Targets
After surpassing earlier emissions goals, Watts said it has established new targets that include reducing water, greenhouse gas and hazardous waste intensities by 3% annually.
The company also aims to reduce absolute carbon emissions by 10,000 metric tons by 2034.
“We’ve made strong progress by setting clear, measurable goals and holding ourselves accountable to them,” said Robert J. Pagano, Jr., CEO, President and Chairperson of the Board at Watts.
Water and Waste Reductions Surpassed Previous Goals
Watts reported significant operational gains between 2018 and 2023, including:
- 62% reduction in water intensity
- 60% reduction in market-based emissions intensity
- 35% reduction in hazardous waste intensity
Since 2014, the company said it has also reduced more than 80 million liters of water globally through conservation and efficiency investments.
For manufacturers serving plumbing and mechanical markets, these types of operational improvements can lower resource consumption while helping meet customer procurement expectations.
Product Development Tied to Sustainability Goals
Watts said sustainability is also integrated into its product development process.
That can include solutions designed to improve water efficiency, system performance and facility sustainability—key priorities for engineers, contractors and building owners facing stricter performance goals.
For contractors, manufacturers emphasizing lifecycle efficiency can create more opportunities in retrofit, replacement and high-performance project work.
Growing Importance Across Construction Markets
As commercial and institutional customers place greater emphasis on ESG metrics and utility performance, suppliers that demonstrate measurable environmental progress may hold an advantage in specifications and long-term partnerships.
Watts’ latest recognition reflects how sustainability is becoming increasingly tied to both operations and product strategy across the plumbing and hydronics sector.
