Updated Impact Strategy Focuses on Sanitation, Sustainability and Inclusion
LIXIL’s Impact Strategy centers on three primary pillars:
- Global Sanitation & Hygiene
- Water Conservation & Environmental Sustainability
- Diversity & Inclusion
The company said the updated targets are intended to address global social and environmental challenges while also supporting long-term corporate growth and operational resilience.
LIXIL’s framework incorporates a three-phase approach that integrates impact goals across its operations, supply chain and broader market ecosystem.
LIXIL Targets Improved Sanitation Access for 100 Million Additional People
After recently achieving its decade-long goal of improving sanitation and hygiene access for 103 million people through its SATO social business and partnership initiatives, LIXIL has established a new target to improve sanitation access for an additional 100 million people by fiscal year-end 2031.
The company said future efforts will focus on expanding sustainable business models, strengthening sanitation ecosystems and increasing access through partnerships, workforce development and financial access programs.
LIXIL also plans to continue supporting sanitation access through the deployment of SATO products and broader policy and advocacy initiatives.
Company Advances Climate and Circularity Goals
LIXIL also announced progress toward its Environmental Vision 2050 targets, including climate action, water sustainability and circular economy initiatives.
The company achieved its 90% waste recycling target ahead of schedule and has established a new goal of reaching 95% waste recycling by fiscal year-end 2031. LIXIL also expects to achieve a 100% high-performance window sales ratio in Japan by fiscal year-end 2026 and plans to maintain that level through 2031.
Additional environmental progress includes reductions in greenhouse gas emissions across operations and the supply chain, with reported reductions of:
- 46.9% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 CO₂ emissions
- 18.5% reduction in Scope 3 CO₂ emissions
To support long-term emissions reductions and sustainable procurement goals, LIXIL said it is exploring green aluminum sourcing while maintaining its existing commitment to 100% recycled aluminum usage.
Workforce Development and Inclusion Remain Key Priorities
LIXIL also reaffirmed its commitment to diversity, inclusion and workforce development, including goals to increase women’s representation in leadership positions by fiscal year-end 2030.
The company said it views inclusive workplace culture as a driver of innovation and product development, helping the organization respond to evolving customer and market needs.
LIXIL is also collaborating with community organizations and industry partners to help develop future skilled trades talent pipelines and strengthen workforce resiliency across the industry.
Impact Strategy Tied Directly to Long-Term Business Growth
According to the company, the updated Impact Strategy reflects a broader effort to embed sustainability and societal impact directly into business operations and growth planning.
LIXIL said the strategy is designed to help the company respond to evolving global challenges such as climate change, demographic shifts and resource constraints while continuing to create long-term value through its products and partnerships.
