MILWAUKEE — SOLAR THERMAL '11 will be heating up Milwaukee Dec. 1-2, 2011, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. This two-day conference and networking event is for industry professionals including installers, manufacturers, distributors, engineers, designers, policy makers, code officials and trainers.

This year’s keynote speaker for the SOLAR THERMAL ’11 National Solar Heating and Cooling Conference is Mark Thornbloom, vice-chair of the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC), an independent non-profit U.S. entity that certifies solar thermal equipment and publishes performance ratings. He has served the SRCC for the past decade in various capacities, most recently as Interim Executive Director at the UCF Florida Solar Energy Center in solar thermal applied research and development. Thornbloom has an extensive background in solar thermal research and development. SOLAR THERMAL 11 will feature presentations from many of the leaders in the industry.

Sessions on innovative financing will feature Dell Jones from Regenesis Solar and Michael Shore from FLS Energy. Also panel discussions on commercial system design, best practices, training and credentialing programs, energy metering, system monitoring, hydronic heat emitters and distribution methods, solar thermal applications for breweries and an innovators forum put on by the Milwaukee Solar Hot Water Business Council.

The exhibit hall will feature innovative companies and exhibits from panel manufacturers, component makers, training and credentialing organizations, system designers and installers and more.

SOLAR THERMAL 11 will also feature pre-conference sessions for those new to the industry, looking to improve sales, or manufacturers looking to learn more about Milwaukee. This year’s pre-conference workshop sessions will take place Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Anyone new to the industry should attend “Introduction to Solar Thermal Technology” presented by Ben Nusz, instructor at Mid-State Technical College.
