GAINESVILLE, FLA. — The National Center for Construction Education and Research announced the 2009 release of Minor Decisions: Major Impact, a DVD training video about project management issues.
The DVD provides trainees with scenario-based training with discussions about the roles and actions of a construction project manager while featuring real-world project management issues. The central topics, which are covered in six video segments, include how to manage best under pressure, resolving team conflicts, using best practices and mitigating negative impacts on schedules and costs.
“Minor Decisions: Major Impact is a timely and critical addition to NCCER’s library of training programs,” said Daniele Stacey, NCCER’s director of product development. “It takes real-life situations that today’s project manager faces on a daily basis, and seamlessly brings them into a classroom environment.”
Other general themes and issues explored by the training video incorporate management and leadership styles, teamwork and attitudes, disciplinary action, problem identification, fact finding, root cause analysis, resource control and proper housekeeping procedures.
The program comes with an instructor’s guide, featuring lesson plan suggestions and tips for guiding use of the video as well as discussion questions and class exercises. It will be sold as both an accompanying resource to NCCER’s Project Management curriculum and as a stand-alone product.
