Contractors Mr. Rooter has added Chris Mellon, marketing manager, to its corporate team. Before making the move to Mr. Rooter, Mellon spent five years as creative director and brand manager for The Dwyer Group, the holding company for Mr. Rooter and five other franchising companies. Bobby Pruitt has joined the companys franchise systems management team. Pruitt will also serve as technology solutions

Mr. Rooter has added Chris Mellon, marketing manager, to its corporate team. Before making the move to Mr. Rooter, Mellon spent five years as creative director and brand manager for The Dwyer Group, the holding company for Mr. Rooter and five other franchising companies. Bobby Pruitt has joined the company’s franchise systems management team. Pruitt will also serve as technology solutions manager. For the past two years he has been the business analyst for The Dwyer Group.

The Associated Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors of Texas Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded a total of $17,000 in scholarships to the following students for 2006-2007: Linette Aguirre, Lisa Argo, Hector Arroyos, James Beyer, Steffenie Butler, Kelsey Faires, Sandra Hernandez, Kasey Kamerbeek, Dusty Ledbetter, Meredith Lewis, John Ramirez, Regina Rudd, Amanda Sampson, Brianna Shelton, Justin Thompson, Clayton Turner and Cynthia Zamora. These scholarships were awarded on the basis of academic ability, school participation and community involvement. Members of APHCC-Texas sponsored the students.

LA-CO Industries announced the winners of its fall 2005 Slic-Tite promotion, which sent three groups of customers to see their local NFL teams. Greg Skudlarek of Garfield, Minn., is the owner of Northern Climate Control and an instructor at the local vo-tech school. The participating distributor was Goodin Manufacturing. Skudlarek attended the Vikings vs. Rams game. Andy Casey of Edgerton, Wis., is owner of Team Heating. The participating distributor was First Supply in Madison, Wis. Casey attended the Packers vs. Lions game. Richard Gebka, is foreman at F.E. Moran in Lemont, Ill. The participating distributor was Porter Pipe & Supply. Gebka attended the Bears vs. Falcons game.

Vendors

Weil-McLain named Richard Millar president. Millar comes to the company from Tormax Technologies, a manufacturer, installer and service provider of architectural entrance systems, where he was CEO and president.

OmegaFlex has appointed Duane E. Schooltz to the newly created position of senior vice president and general manager of the TracPipe division. He was most recently vice president and general manager of Titeflex's Gastite division, a major competitor.

Invensys Building Systems has appointed David C. Gill to vice president and general manager. Gill has held several sales and marketing positions with the company, most recently director of global marketing.

Vaughan & Bushnell Manufacturing is honoring the long service of its current president, Howard A. Vaughan Jr., who is marking his 50th year with the firm. This year also marks his 40th year as president of the company, founded by the Vaughan family in 1869.

A.O. Smith has announced the following executive appointments at its Milwaukee World Headquarters: Jane M. Sanford has been named vice president/global human resources and organizational development; Craig R. Watson has been named vice president/investor relations; and Thomas J. Olander joins the company as vice president/global compensation, benefits and payroll, a newly created position. Sanford has served as director of human resources since January 2005. Watson joined A.O. Smith as investor relations director in 1996. Olander comes to the company from U.S. Can Co., where he was vice president/human resources.

Flowserve has announced that Thomas E. Ferguson has been elected president of the Hydraulic Institute for 2006-2007. He will also serve as a member of the board of directors. Ferguson is a vice president of Flowserve and president of Flowserve Pumps. He has more than 24 years of experience in the flow control industry.

Glenn Mosack, president of Conbraco Industries, has been nominated for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The award recognizes the work of individuals in building and growing successful companies in the United States and around the world. Mosack helped lead the company through a series of management initiatives including the institution of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma processes.

Grainger has announced that Deb Oler has been promoted to vice president/sales. Oler joined Grainger in May 2002 as regional sales vice president. Most recently she served as vice president/sales effectiveness and direct marketing.

T&S Brass and Bronze Works has hired Richard Fahey in the role of marketing product manager. Fahey comes to T&S from Hamilton Beach Commercial, where he served in the role of product manager, responsible primarily for the management of the hospitality and food-service product lines. Jane VanBergen has joined the company as marketing product manager. VanBergen comes to T&S from Jackson-Dawson, where she served as a senior account executive, and was previously with Ryobi Technologies, as director of marketing. Jack Criswell has joined the company in the role of business development manager/hose reel products. Criswell joins the company after spending more than 20 years with Aeromotive, a division of Woodhead Industries.
