WACO, TEXAS - Just a year after kicking off its national sponsorship, Mr. Rooter Plumbing marked the milestone of giving $50,000 in in-kind donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Mr. Rooter Plumbing franchisees and their teams donated plumbing and drain cleaning services, as well as volunteered their labor and time to Ronald McDonald Houses across North America. These contributions total $54,530.73.
“We are delighted to help this wonderful charity keep its plumbing in good working order,” said Mary Kennedy Thompson, president of Mr. Rooter Corp. “RMHC has helped some of our families, and it’s nice to be able to give back to them.”
Some of the plumbing companies give more than just their services. Two Mr. Rooter Plumbing franchise owners -– John Maxwell in Johnson City, Tenn., and Jeff Cobabe in Sacramento, Calif. -– sit on their local RMHC boards.
Other Mr. Rooter Plumbing teams –- like the ones in Seattle and Santa Cruz, Calif. -– take meals to their local House and volunteer on a weekly basis.
Ronald McDonald House Charities was established in memory of McDonald's founder and franchise icon Ray Kroc in 1984. The cornerstone program, the Ronald McDonald House, provides a “home-away-from-home” so families can stay close by while their children get the health care they need.
Funded by corporate donors and individual support, the charity’s 305 Houses are located in 31 countries around the world.
“The first Ronald McDonald House became a reality when a community inspired by the belief that children shouldn't have to fight their illness alone worked together donating time, money and in-kind resources,” said Marty Coyne, president and CEO, RMHC. “That same sentiment inspires Mr. Rooter and their tremendous franchisees who give of themselves and their services to ensure RMHC families have one less thing to worry about and can focus solely on the recovery of their precious child."
Along with its sister companies Aire Serv, Glass Doctor, Mr. Appliance, Mr. Electric and The Grounds Guys, Mr. Rooter Plumbing is continuing its sponsorship in 2011. For the second year in a row, they have committed $100,000 to RMHC.
As part of the renewed sponsorship, franchise owners will continue to donate their services, labor and supplies.
