DALLAS — “It is difficult to find training for older A/C equipment,” points out Pat Rucker, president of Entech Sales & Service here. “The manufacturers offer training on equipment in current production, but there are a lot of chillers 10 to 20 years old still in operation and need service and repairs.”
Entech Sales & Service has been providing contractor’s service and teardown instruction for many years.
Entech has access to older equipment since they buy and sell large tonnage equipment as part of their normal operations. Field technicians with years of experience pass along knowledge and tricks of the trade that make service and troubleshooting easier. The classes are always well received, and often students will call the instructors when they encounter a problem in the field.
Attendees come from all over the U.S. and some from foreign countries. Teardown classes are designed for those who have a good working knowledge of refrigeration theory.
Classes are taught in the winter months to accommodate contractors who cannot afford to have their technicians gone during the busy summer season. This leaves only a limited amount of classes that can fit into the time frame. Each class requires one week’s time and is dedicated to a single manufacturer — Trane, Carrier, York or McQuay.
Entech’s philosophy is that the industry is better served if contractors are well trained and provide service in a professional manner. This gives the end user more choices so they don’t have to rely only on the original equipment manufacturer for service.
