TORONTO — Armstrong Ltd., a third-generation family-owned business, will celebrate its 75th anniversary this year. A list of the commemorations will be made public in the next month.
Samuel Allan Armstrong founded the company in 1934 in the midst of the Great Depression. Under the leadership of James A.C. Armstrong, Samuel Armstrong’s son, the company grew from one manufacturing facility to a company with manufacturing plants throughout the world. James Armstrong established the future direction of the company by investing in new technologies and expanding the company into new markets. In 1990, James passed the company to his two sons, Charles and Jim Armstrong.
Charles Armstrong, the company’s current president, is a supporter of sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives. The company recently introduced its ECO:nomics sustainability platform and Design Envelope solutions. These solutions include both products and services, designed to save on capital and energy costs. Charles Armstrong has rallied the organization around this platform and established the position of a lower carbon footprint at no extra cost, which is the tagline for Armstrong’s new ECO:nomics platform.
