What happened to civility?

PHOENIX — I just read the January 2011 edition of CONTRACTOR, which arrived yesterday. Apparently, the letter from Chester Birchwood was printed/published prior to President Obama's call for more civility. While the other letters all address the topic (both sides) in an intelligent manner, Birchwood's letter just spews vitriol (overused term) toward Mr. Gray. Examples: "ignorant ranting", "owner of some company called Refrigeration Specialists", "more attune to your misgivings", "you should retire as soon as possible" and "loading your poisonous diatribe on an unsuspecting population." Really? I fail to see how his commentary advanced the discussion of this timely issue. At the risk of spewing my own vitriol, if the intent of publishing Birchwood's letter was to prove to us that he is a fool, mission accomplished.
