The Green Mechanical Council has elected a new board of directors to sever a one-year term. The new executive board members are: chairman Jerry Weiss, executive director of HVAC Excellence, chairman of the board of Educational Standards Corp., member of the Board of Directors of the Carbon Monixide Safety Association; vice chairman Steven H. Allen, administrator of HVACR Education and Recruitment for the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada (UA); treasurer Tom Crandell, director of Corporate and Professional Development Center at Ferris State University; and secretary Walter Jann, executive vice president of Legend Valve. Other board members include: director Dan Chiles, vice president of marketing for Watts Radiant; director Scott Berger, owner/operator of mechanical service contractor Arista; director Michael Senter, CEO of ABCO Refrigeration Supply Corp.; and director Mary Milmoe of Carrier Corp. Tom Meyer remains as executive director.
Cory Holmes has been appointed water/wastewater assistant project manager at J. F. Ahern Co. Holmes brings two years of industry experience to Ahern. He most recently served as field engineer for Kiewit Southern Company in Miami, FL. Paul Disch has been named plumbing sales/project manager at J. F. Ahern Co.’s Milwaukee office. Disch brings 17 years of industry experience to Ahern. He most recently served as General Foreman for Grunau Company in Oak Creek, WI.
S. Michael Christiansen has been awarded the meritorious service award at the 83rd annual mid-year conference of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Wisconsin. The award was given for his many years of dedicated service to the industry. Christiansen is president of H&H Industries, Madison, Wisc., and the current vice president of the MCAA of Wisconsin.
The St. Louis Chapter, Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) recently named Mark Bengard, senior vice president of Murphy Co., as “Outstanding Engineer in Construction.” The annual award honors overall excellence in construction engineering. Bengard joined Murphy in 1989 and has more than 30 years experience in mechanical contracting.
AZCO INC. is pleased to announce the promotion of Dale Coenen to the position of vice president of Construction. Coenen has been with AZCO in site superintendent and project management roles since 1990.

Richard L. Keyser, chairman and CEO of W. W. Grainger, Inc., received the prestigious Marco Polo Award during a banquet held at the Diaoyutai State Guest House. The award is presented in recognition of the company’s contribution to supporting foreign expert volunteers in China. The General Director of China’s State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) presented the award to Keyser on behalf of SAFEA, the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel and the US-China Foundation for International Exchanges.
Ted Sikorski, vice president-marketing with Bradford White Corp., recently announced his retirement. A graduate of Ursinus University in Collegeville, Pa., Sikorski joined Bradford White in 1966 as a buyer and purchasing agent. Bradford White recently announced the promotion of R. Bruce Carnevale to the position of vice president – Sales and Marketing. Carnevale has been employed with Bradford White since 1996 and has served as both a regional and national sales manager and most recently vice president – Sales. Additional appointments at the company include: Frederick D. Vattimo who has been promoted to the new position of director-Corporate Advertising; James C. McGoldrick, Jr. who has been promoted to the new position of national marketing manager; Joseph T. Notte who has been promoted to national sales manager; Christopher J. Catania who has been appointed to regional sales manager-Western Region; Matthew Kozak has been appointed to regional sales manager-Southeast Region; and Robert G. McKenney, district sales manager, will see his responsibilities expanded to include numerous sales districts in Bradford White’s Southeast Territory.
Fujitsu General America, Inc. today announced the appointment of Shawn Hill as the firm’s new southeast regional sales manager. Hill's background most recently includes five years with ECR International, the parent company for EMI ductless mini-splits. Hill managed eight states in Southeast, with seven independent rep agencies.
Sloan Valve Company, has announced the appointment of Steven Rodgers as the company's vice president, Supply Chain Operations. Robert L. Beard, director of operations at Sloan Valve's Augusta, Arkansas foundry, was honored by the Augusta Industrial Development Corporation as the Executive of the Year for his demonstrated leadership of one of the most competitive brass foundries in the United States.
Hercules Chemical Co. has announced that Robert P. Aleman, Jr., has joined the company as technical support specialist. Prior to joining Hercules, Aleman held a partnership with Imperial Plumbing & Heating, owned Dutch Aleman's Mechanical Contactors, and held a maintenance engineer position in the Union County Vocational Technical School District. He brings over 30 years experience to his new position.
A. O. Smith Water Products Company today announced four executive appointments in its domestic and international operations: Kevin Wheeler, senior vice president and general manager of U. S. retail water heaters; Wei Ding, vice president-China; Steve Anderson, who is currently senior vice president-global operations, will assume profit and loss responsibility for all international operations outside of North America and China; David Warren, managing director of the Veldhoven operation, will now assume responsibility for all international sales outside of North America and China including the company's export water heater business. Wheeler replaces Robert W. Trudeau, who retired in May as president of American Water Heater Company. Trudeau had been president of American Water Heater since 1996. Wheeler brings more than 20 years of water heater industry experience to his new position.
Bill Christensen, CEO of Geberit North America/The Chicago Faucet Company, based in Des Plaines, IL, will relocate to the Geberit corporate office in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, and lead marketing efforts for Geberit. Andreas Nowak will become the CEO of Geberit North America/The Chicago Faucet Company. Nowak is currently the managing director of Geberit's Austrian sales company.
