Longwood, Fla. — S.I. Goldman Co. Inc., a mechanical contractor and services company, has announced its work on six jobs that span from Kissimmee to Gainesville, Fla., and range from underground utility installation to equipment fabrication.

The company recently completed the installation of a blower coil and exhaust fan for a system at the new 1,300-sq.-ft. Peterbrooke Chocolatier retail store in The Villages. The location of the family-owned chain is a franchise operation in the retirement community's Lake Sumter Landing Market Square.

In July, S.I. Goldman is expected to complete an HVAC and plumbing project for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Animal Industry. Their Kissimmee, Fla.-based Diagnostic Laboratory, which exists to detect and investigate animal disease, is in need of larger facilities to continue the development of its research program. S.I. Goldman provided an air-cooled chiller and air-handling unit for a new 1,150-sq.-ft. building. Both items will be atypically located on the roof, allowing for optimum use of space.

S.I. Goldman also is providing services throughout Gainesville, Fla., starting with a project that is nearing completion for the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center. The company's team will help provide full emergency backup power to the building. Their work will include fabricating and installing muffler and exhaust systems for four large generators that will reside in their own, newly added, freestanding building on the VA hospital campus.

In another Gainesville, Fla.-based job, the company currently is installing orthopedic research equipment at Shand's Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital's Academic Building. The firm is relocating a hydraulic power unit from one building to another. The change involves having chilled water to cool the unit and domestic water backup services.

The mechanical contractor also is providing the University of Florida with an HVAC renovation to the south end of the 7,000-sq.-ft. Grinter Hall administrative building. The system requires complete demolition and installation of a new air handling unit, chilled water air handling unit, variable air volume boxes with reheat coils, controls and ductwork.

Simultaneously, the company will play a role in the construction of the university's new 110,000-sq.-ft. Pathogen Research Facility. S.I. Goldman will establish the building's underground piping and utilities. Chilled water, sanitary, storm, gas, domestic water and acid waste utilities will be installed.
