RENO, NEV. – Northern Nevada-based RHP Mechanical Systems ranks among the country’s top specialty contractors, taking top spots in two different annual reports published by Southwest Contractor and the Engineering News-Record. Based on revenue generated throughout 2009, RHP stands at 37th among 113 specialty contractors as ranked by Southwest Contractor and sits at No. 470 in Engineering News-Record’s annual, nationwide “Top 600 Specialty Contractors” list.

RHP Mechanical Systems, originally known as Ray Heating, has been locally owned and operated in Reno, Nev. since 1950. RHP specializes in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems ranging from home heating and air conditioning to complex industrial projects and integrated pre-construction services. Among the projects helping RHP earn its latest rankings is the $4.1-million mechanical/plumbing system for the State of Nevada‘s Department of Agriculture project.

“We’re particularly proud to have earned these rankings from two very reputable, nationally-recognized publications, especially at a time when the construction industry has been hit so hard economically,” said Steve Scolari, president/CEO of RHP Mechanical Systems. “We’re grateful to our clients and other customers who have remained so supportive of us throughout the last year and we look forward to continuing to serve the Southwest with continuing dedication to excellence and safety in 2011.”

Serving the commercial construction industry for more than 63 years, Southwest Contractor’s annual survey of leading subcontractors places RHP at No. 37among top specialty contractors across Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico, with revenues of more than $30 million last year. The survey results, released by the commercial construction industry publication in August 2010, ranks subcontractors based on total revenue generated from work completed in 2009.

Based on accumulated revenue from 2009, Engineering News-Record’s “Top 600 Specialty Contractors” annual list ranks the country’s top specialty contractors, placing RHP at No. 470 on the 2010 list. Serving the construction industry for more than 90 years, the publication provides news, analysis, commentary and data on all sectors of the industry including buildings and highways, hazardous waste management, labor and economic issues.
