ORLANDO, FLA.—Longwood-based Comprehensive Energy Services Inc. has just completed the Orange County District 9 Medical Examiner’s office. The $2,000,000 United States Green Building Council LEED Gold certified mechanical and plumbing construction project will reduce water consumption by 40%, during its first year of operation, and its high-tech air purification system will enhance the indoor work environment.
The 40,000-sq.ft. campus consists of three buildings: administration, morgue and decomposition morgue. The three buildings are served by two, high-efficiency, air cooled chillers, which include 100% cooling redundancy, two hot water boilers, variable air volume systems, four custom air handling units, three modular air handling units and a building automation system.
“The on-site team led by Wharton-Smith Inc. Construction Group in conjunction with CES and their subcontractors worked extremely well together to obtain the project’s Gold LEED certification and to meet the project’s aggressive completion schedule of October 2009,” said Don Smeller, CES Project Manager.
