ATLANTA, GA — Rheem®, an Atlanta-based manufacturer of heating, cooling, water heating and refrigeration systems, partnered with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity as the host affiliate for the 2026 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, helping support the construction of 24 new affordable homes in southwest Atlanta.
The global Habitat for Humanity initiative brought together more than 1,000 volunteers, sponsors and community partners to support the multi-home build effort.
As part of the project, Rheem supplied high-efficiency Rheem Endeavor® Line heating and cooling systems and Rheem Gladiator™ electric water heaters for all 24 homes. Each HVAC system will also utilize the ecobee Smart Thermostat Lite to help homeowners better manage comfort and utility costs.
Rheem Employees Participate in Week-Long Volunteer Build Effort
Rheem employees volunteered throughout the May 3–8 build week, assisting with construction, landscaping and painting activities in Atlanta’s historic Sylvan Hills neighborhood.
The project marked the launch of Langston Park, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity’s newest planned community and the affiliate’s first townhome-style development.
“Home ownership is powerful and Rheem is grateful to play a small role in supporting 24 new homeowners here in Atlanta,” said Alex Housten, Chief Operating Officer at Rheem. “Rheem colleagues, together with our plumber, contractor, distribution and retail partners, benefit from our work experience during build week. It’s exciting to see a new community built before our eyes so quickly, with the coordinated help of so many right here within Atlanta. We are proud that Rheem products will play a role serving this neighborhood for years to come. This project demonstrates the power of partnerships and is an important reminder that our impact is greater when we work together.”
High-Efficiency Systems Support Long-Term Comfort and Energy Savings
The homes were equipped with energy-efficient HVAC and water heating equipment designed to support long-term reliability, comfort and lower operating costs for homeowners.
The addition of smart thermostat technology is intended to help residents better monitor and manage energy consumption while improving overall system performance.
Rheem says its participation in the Carter Work Project aligns with the company’s broader Heart of Comfort™ philanthropic initiative, which focuses on community impact efforts in areas where employees live and work.
Partnership Supports Affordable Housing Expansion in Atlanta
Atlanta Habitat says partnerships with manufacturers and industry organizations play an important role in expanding access to affordable housing opportunities across the region.
"Partnerships with organizations like Rheem help us expand our impact so we can empower more families to achieve their dream of homeownership," said Rosalyn Merrick, President and CEO of Atlanta Habitat. "Together, we're helping families improve their homes, their communities and their lives."
The 2026 Carter Work Project also coincides with Habitat for Humanity International’s 50th anniversary. As part of the milestone, the organization launched its “Let’s Open the Door” campaign focused on expanding housing access and supporting affordable homeownership initiatives globally.
