TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – Jeff Baldwin, design engineering manager for T&S Brass & Bronze Works, a leading U. S. manufacturer of commercial plumbing and foodservice equipment, has stepped into the role of president at Plumbing Manufacturers International, a trade association of plumbing products manufacturers. PMI serves as a sounding board for members, as a source of commercial plumbing innovation and information, as a decision-making body for industry issues such as standards and codes, and as a liaison for government legislation.
As president, Baldwin will focus on maximizing the organization’s efficiency and impact on the plumbing industry. “I want us to know why members join, why they stay, and what we can do to increase our effectiveness as the leading plumbing industry advocate,” he says. A member of the PMI board since 2008, Baldwin served as treasurer and vice president before ascending into the role of president.
“We are delighted to have Jeff in the role of president this year,” says PMI Executive Director Barbara Higgens. “T&S has been a member of our organization since 1966, with founder George Theisen serving as president in 1977 and his son Claude serving in 2006. T&S has carved out quite a legacy both in PMI and in the plumbing industry at large, so Jeff is following in some hallowed footsteps. I know his down to earth, back-to-business strategies will serve us well.”
A recognized thought leader on issues such as water and energy conservation and lead-free legislation, Baldwin has a longstanding commitment to the plumbing industry. He represented T&S Brass as a charter member of the Alliance for Water Efficiency and as a charter member of the Get the Lead Out Plumbing Consortium. The latter is a composite group of plumbing manufacturers and associations committed to educating industry professionals about compliance with the Federal Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act, which goes into effect on January 4, 2014.
Says Baldwin, “I’m very excited about the GTLOP webinar and presentation we’ve put together. Working together with the manufacturers, trade associations, and other resources of the plumbing industry, I feel confident we will be well prepared for this new law. Higher standards and a safer water supply are goals T&S fully supports, and I look forward to having an active role in this effort.”
