WACO, TEXAS -- From volunteering labor and expertise to keep the plumbing of Ronald McDonald Houses in good working condition to collecting supplies for the families staying there, Mr. Rooter Plumbing takes the plunge into charity work.

The Mr. Rooter Plumbing sponsorship is in collaboration with four of its affiliate companies -- Aire Serv, Glass Doctor, Mr. Appliance and Mr. Electric. These companies joined together to support Ronald McDonald House Charities with a national commitment of $100,000.

"It feels great to give back to Ronald McDonald House Charities, because it seems like everyone knows someone who has benefited from their wonderful services," said Mary Kennedy Thompson, president of Mr. Rooter Corp. "We are honored to support them in helping families with sick children."

Mr. Rooter plumbers will help Ronald McDonald Houses by donating labor and supplies when plumbing and drain cleaning work is needed. The shops will also collect supplies year-round.

Ronald McDonald House Charities was established in 1984 in memory of McDonald's founder and franchise icon Ray Kroc. The cornerstone program, the Ronald McDonald House, provides a "home-away-from-home" so families can stay close by while their child gets the health care they need.

"With nearly 300 Ronald McDonald Houses in the world serving 7,200 families a day, our Houses need constant maintenance to ensure the families come back from the hospital each day to a comfortable home," said Marty Coyne, president and CEO, Ronald McDonald House Charities. "This partnership will make it even easier for staff at our Ronald McDonald Houses to ensure the Houses are close to perfection for our families."

The Houses are located around the world and are funded by both corporate donor and individual support. This is the ideal partnership for Mr. Rooter, because it has plumbing shops across the United States and Canada.

"Our franchise brands know what it means to be of service so that customers can have peace of mind and focus on more important things," said Dina Dwyer-Owens, CEO and chairwoman of The Dwyer Group, Inc. "That is why supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities is a perfect fit to extend that message in another meaningful way."
