Grundfos “Pumps on Tour” Hosts Local Industrial Trade For Fun Day

July 12, 2010
Traveling educational vehicle rolls into Chicago with games, giveaways, and free baseball tickets, as well as practical information and training.

OLATHE, KANSAS — The Grundfos “Pumps on Tour” — a fully equipped, mobile educational center for professionals in the residential, commercial and industrial pumping industry — visited Chicago recently, setting up on the city’s South Side at U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Major League Baseball’s Chicago White Sox.

Held on June 22 from noon until six o’clock, the event welcomed representatives from approximately 75 local mechanical contracting and industrial companies as well as a dozen Chicago-area wholesale-distribution firms.

Attendees toured the vehicle, enjoyed a Chicago-style Italian Beef lunch and participated on other games and activities, all courtesy of Grundfos Pumps. Throughout the afternoon, Grundfos personnel conducted hourly drawings, awarding attendees with an assortment of valuable electronics prizes.
Giveaways included: a Nintendo Wii console, an iPod Touch, an iPod Shuffle and — the grand prize — an iPad, won by Ken Sherman of Sherman Mechanical Inc., a mechanical contracting firm based in nearby Cary, Illinois. Dennis Wierzbicki, President of Grundfos Pumps USA, made the presentation.

To cap off the day, Grundfos provided free tickets to the scheduled White Sox baseball game against the visiting Atlanta Braves that evening — but not before hosting attendees to an all-you-can-eat buffet in the Patio Area, located just behind the right center field fence within U.S. Cellular Field.

The Chicago event was one of 48 that the “Pumps on Tour” vehicle will host in 27 different states during 2010. Through June 22, more than 2,400 people at 29 different stops had visited the 1,200-square-foot vehicle for hands-on training by Grundfos staff and the chance to experience first-hand an array of new pump products. The experience includes sessions inside the truck’s mini-theater for viewing training videos and presentations, as well as a series of interactive working displays of residential, commercial and industrial pump solutions.

In July and August, Pumps on Tour will be visiting the Dakotas, Nebraska and Kansas, before moving farther westward in August and September. During that period, it will make 16 stops in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Washington state.
