Contractors use cast iron

Charlotte, N.C. — When the home improvement series “This Old House” tackled its first New York City project, the contractors used Charlotte Pipe and Foundry's cast iron pipe and fittings for the plumbing.

The “This Old House” episode, featuring Charlotte Pipe and Foundry, shows Richard Trethewey, a Charlotte Pipe customer, meeting Randy Gitli, local plumbing and heating contractor, for a look at their progress on the cast iron waste piping and the home's mechanical room, which contains two complete heating systems, one for the ground floor apartment and another for the top three floors.

Cast iron has been in use for more than 100 years and is manufactured from 100% post-consumer recycled scrap iron and steel.
