LITTLETON, MASS. — Basnett Plumbing & Heating will receive custom-designed marketing pieces and a customized marketing plan as the winner of the Marketing Makeover contest sponsored by CONTRACTOR magazine and columnist Adams Hudson of Hudson, Ink. Basnett's entry, prepared by President Rob Basnett and Finance Manager Maryann Swift, was selected from about 100 entries sent in by CONTRACTOR readers.

"Over the next several months, Rob and his crew will be getting custom-designed marketing pieces that will include customer newsletters, Yellow Pages ads, direct-mail pieces and newspaper ads; a custom marketing plan; and much more to jumpstart their marketing," Hudson said. "This will be a fun project."

The Marketing Makeover series will begin in the February issue of CONTRACTOR. In the first article, Hudson will describe common marketing problems that he believes are shared by 85% of this magazine's readers and how he plans to overcome them with Basnett Plumbing & Heating.

In 1987, Rob Basnett founded his company, which specializes in service work and bath remodeling. The company employs 15 people and has annual revenue of about $1.5 million.

Basnett Plumbing & Heating is a member of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors — National Association and its Quality Service Contractors subgroup. It also belongs to the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce.

CONTRACTOR announced the contest in full-page ads in our August and September 2005 issues. All contractors that entered the contest received four free gifts from Hudson, Ink:

  • A subscription to a sales and marketing newsletter;
  • A 16-page report on how to build leads, sales and profits;
  • A 12-month marketing strategy planner; and
  • $200 in coupons for a variety of marketing tools.
