OCALA, FL — Jack Rabbit Air, Plumbing and Electric brought its community-first values to life over Thanksgiving weekend by hosting a food and clothing drive that served more than 80 unhoused and struggling Ocala residents.
Held at 1 Downtown Square, the event offered hot meals, winter clothing, and hygiene essentials to community members facing hardship.
Supporting the Community With More Than Just Service Calls
In just two and a half hours, volunteers distributed all prepared meals — turkey, beans, and rice—along with coats, hats, pants, and hygiene supplies. Eight volunteers, including four Jack Rabbit employees who gave up their Sunday afternoon, worked side by side to make the event a success.
“The response from the community was overwhelming and deeply moving,” said Rob Chism, Jack Rabbit. “Many recipients returned for seconds and expressed their gratitude with tears in their eyes. Though we’re relatively new to Ocala, we’re committed to supporting our most vulnerable neighbors, especially during these cold winter months.”
A Team Effort for a Worthy Cause
Volunteers set up tents and multiple tables at Downtown Square to create a welcoming environment where residents could enjoy a warm meal and receive much-needed supplies before the onset of winter.
“This event reflects our belief that businesses have a responsibility to give back to the communities they serve,” Chism added. “We’re so proud of the dedication our team members showed by volunteering their time to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”
Encouraging Broader Community Involvement
Jack Rabbit is calling on other local businesses and individuals to get involved in upcoming community service efforts. Those interested in contributing to future events can contact the company at 352/706-0701 or visit www.calljackrabbit.com for more information.
