Poole & Kent wins contract for Miami wastewater treatment plant

EMCOR announced that its Poole & Kent Co. subsidiary has been awarded a contract by Miami-Dade County for the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant.

MIAMI -- EMCOR Group Inc. announced that its Poole & Kent Co. of Florida subsidiary has been awarded a contract by Miami-Dade County for the construction work within the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant in Miami, Fla.

Poole & Kent will be responsible for the construction of a 60,000-sq.ft. Septage Receiving and Solids Handling Building with two 50,000-gal. fatty oils and greases tanks. The building will include a multi-level structure to house process equipment, a finished area for offices, employee facilities, and an influent channel to receive and transfer raw sewage. Poole & Kent will also install a Motor Control Center, electrical switchgear, HVAC units, and ventilation fans at the facility.

In addition, Poole & Kent will construct a chemical storage area with secondary containment and storage tanks, as well as an odor control system, with blowers, scrubbers, circulation pumps, duct work and associated valves and controls. Its scope of work will also include installation of 2,000-ft. of ductile iron pipe, hot tapping of an existing pre-cast concrete pipe, installation of over 1,000-ft. of CPVC pipe, and hot taps for flushing and potable water systems. The company will also be responsible for construction of two independent truck scales, along with guard shacks, instrumentation, lighting and traffic control devices, as well as installation of new control valves and piping at 17 existing injection wells, pumps and piping at a flushing water pump station.
