LANSDOWNE, VA. — The 2007 HVACR & Plumbing Instructor Workshop, March 28-30 at the National Conference Center here, will include sessions on right sizing hydronics, new joining processes for copper and copper alloys, and well and storm pumps. General sessions will cover constructing PowerPoint presentations, designing curriculum and instructional methods for adult learners, student recruitment and career promotion, and a career and technical education update.
The workshop, "Technology in the Classroom," is being recommended for plumbing and HVACR instructors, administrators, and counselors in secondary, post-secondary and proprietary programs. Plumbing and HVACR apprentice program instructors and administrators and apprentice program advisory committee members are being encouraged to attend.
James McGarvey, executive director of the New York State Weatherization Directors' Association, will address the opening session March 29 on "‘Peak Oil': Myth or Reality?" He will cover what the U.S. Department of Energy's Hirsch Report, U.S. Army Corps' Energy Study and other reports have to say on the topic.
The closing session March 30 will feature Chandler von Schrader of the U.S. Department of Energy. He will speak on "Energy in America" with an emphasis on the success and current direction of the Energy Star program, energy supply and demand, including demands for heating and cooling of buildings. Today's prospects on alternate energy sources will also be a part of von Schrader's remarks.
More than 28 manufacturers and industry partners will exhibit. Several of them will offer hands-on mini-seminars to demonstrate new and emerging technology.
