Stiebel Eltron introduces its latest in tankless water heating technology

Oct. 4, 2021
As the world leader in electric tankless water heaters since 1924, this is the brand promise of Stiebel Eltron: German Engineering. Superior Reliability. Exclusive Features.

From its very beginning, Stiebel Eltron was founded to produce an advanced water heater. In 1924, Dr. Theodor Stiebel founded the company in Germany to manufacture his revolutionary immersion water heater. From that beginning, Dr. Stiebel, followed later by his two sons, Frank Stiebel and Dr. Ulrich Stiebel, continued to invent new water heating technologies, and to improve on what they had invented. Stiebel Eltron is never satisfied — something can always be improved upon. What started with Dr. Stiebel — the guarantee of good, careful, competent engineering and innovation — has continued for almost a century, making the company the world’s largest manufacturer of electric tankless water heaters. There continues to be a focus on the innovation of new products but also a refinement of existing products, including electric tankless water heating technology, and also building ventilation and heat pump technology. New products from Stiebel Eltron have always been patiently developed to ensure reliable products at the cutting edge of technology. One of Stiebel Eltron’s largest departments is research and development.

The company is excited to be expanding in the western hemisphere its range of point-of-use tankless water heater models with Direct Coil™ heating technology. In the United States and Canada, two new model lines feature Stiebel Eltron’s Direct Coil™ system: the DHC Trend and Plus and the DHC-E Trend and Plus. Direct Coil™ technology has been tested and proven in both the U.S. and Europe. Direct Coil™ technology has been available in North America in the Mini™ models for about a decade, with an unprecedented failure rate of less than one-half of one percent for the series, the industry’s lowest failure rate. Direct Coil™ technology offers considerably more advantages than just reliability. Direct Coil™ technology features a self-cleaning heating element that vibrates on start-up. The vibration shakes off calcium particles that have settled on it, offering both a high limescale resistance and increased longevity for the water heater.

Additional benefits of the Direct Coil™ technology include a fast heat-up time, a low 0.26 gpm activation rate, and faster control response to maintain output set temperature. The important benefits people have come to expect from Stiebel Eltron are still there: safety high limit with manual reset and complete dry-fire prevention. Dry-fire prevention has always been a hallmark of Stiebel Eltron electric tankless and now, in addition to reliable flow sensor technology, a patented system detects air bubbles in the heating chamber to prevent any chance of element burn out. The Direct Coil™ heating system also responds quickly to voltage fluctuations, and both inlet temperature and flow rate changes. The DHC-E Plus series is the first point-of-use model to include Stiebel Eltron’s exclusive and patented Advanced Flow Control™ that guarantees hot water delivery at the set temperature. The DHC-E Trend and Plus, with a 14.4 kW model, are also the most powerful point-of-use model available anywhere.

Of course, the new products still have the many standard benefits of tankless water heaters. Since tankless water heaters make hot water on demand, they do not run out of hot water, but deliver it as long as it is needed. Because they do not store hot water, they have none of the standby losses of a tank. This results in energy and cost savings over a standard electric tank. Electric tankless water heaters also do not need venting. Combined with their compact size, this means they can be installed nearly anywhere, including close to the point where hot water is needed. This results in both a shorter wait for hot water and a savings in water and money over a typical tank water heater installation with its long pipe run.

A top-notch, U.S.-based technical and customer service support team are another way Stiebel Eltron stands out. They are unsurpassed in answering questions and sharing their expertise, whether it’s for sizing questions or taking care of an issue. There is also a commitment to be environmentally responsible. Products are designed to be completely recyclable at the end of a long service life. The company also focuses on electricity as the power source for its environmentally friendly and efficient building products, not fossil fuels. Stiebel Eltron believes that electricity is the energy of the future, especially as it comes increasingly from renewable sources.

Still family-owned, just second generation, Stiebel Eltron continues to be an important technology trailblazer and a trusted supplier of reliable products. And as a family business, Stiebel Eltron endeavors to ensure its products help make tomorrow’s world better than yesterday’s. An environmentally responsible life with environmentally responsible products safeguards the future — for everyone.
