ST. PAUL, MINN. — The Nexstar Legacy Foundation (the foundation) announced the awarding of its AC Pro – Troops to Trades $5,000 Scholarship to Ethan Amano.

Troops to Trades is a program of the foundation which provides veterans, National Guard and Reserve members with career placement options, training grants and scholarships to help them find careers in the heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical residential service industries. As a Foundation Partner, AC Pro has provided a $5,000 scholarship for the past two years.

In 1986, AC Pro was founded on the core values of integrity, courtesy and service. The company believes hard work, loyalty and a dedication to being the best are core values in the veterans who have unselfishly served this country, and are great traits to bring to this rewarding HVAC industry. The AC Pro Scholarship is an opportunity to give someone who shares the core values of AC Pro the chance to gain the skills needed to begin a rewarding career outside the uniform – not just for them, but for their family as well. It’s an opportunity for AC Pro to give back to someone who has given to our country. For AC Pro, this is personal.

Amano, of Laguna Hills, CA, served in the US Marine Corps for over six years. He left the military with several medals of commendation and struggled to find a successful post-military career. In February 2016 he will graduate from Brownson Technical School with a degree in HVAC/Refrigeration and Electrical. He believes this career is a great fit with the skills he developed while in the military.

“Having served in the military makes me more proud, because my country has been so good to me and my family. I feel like, in my own little way, I was able to give back to my country that has given me so much.” Amano stated.

Since its formation in 2006, the foundation has awarded more than 100 scholarships, totaling over $350,000, to train and educate technicians and others working in the PHCE service industry, including $100,000 in training grants and scholarships to veterans. The Nexstar Legacy Foundation is dedicated to attracting talented individuals to the heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical industries, by inspiring these people to discover the prestige, earning power and stability of careers in these fields. The foundation accomplishes this by being the leading resource for information on careers and training, as well as a source of financial aid.
