QTC Partnership Launches Contractor-Centric Workforce Pipeline in Las Vegas

Industry veteran Chris Roth joins Lonny Snowden to align trade training with real contractor demand.

Key Highlights

  • Contractor-led training model directly aligned with real jobsite expectations

  • Fast-track programs designed to produce job-ready technicians in as little as three months

  • New partnership positions QTC as a dedicated talent pipeline for Nevada contractors

LAS VEGAS, NV — Quality Training Centers (QTC), Southern Nevada’s longest-running independent trade school specializing in HVAC, electrical and refrigeration—and the only trade school in the region operated by contractors—has announced a new partnership between industry veteran Chris Roth and long-time owner Lonny Snowden.

The partnership introduces a contractor-centric workforce model designed to create a dedicated B2B talent pipeline aimed at addressing ongoing labor shortages across Nevada’s HVAC, electrical and refrigeration sectors.

“Quality Training Centers has an incredible legacy in this community; the kind of school I have always wanted to be a part of, and in fact, I did try to purchase years ago. Now, I get to be part of the school my former mentor founded and I couldn’t be more excited. It is a full-circle moment, and I know this is exactly where I am supposed to be,” said Roth.

Hands-On Training Model Expands Under Contractor Leadership

QTC has built its reputation on fast-track, affordable training programs designed to move students from no experience to job-ready in as little as three months. Under the new leadership structure, that approach will continue with a deeper emphasis on real-world application and contractor expectations.

“You can’t teach the trades from a desk,” Roth said. “The best trade education comes from someone who has actually done the work and who knows what it feels like to be on a job site, what employers expect on day one, and what separates a good technician from a great one. Having overseen an estimated more than 50,000 air conditioning installations and more than half a million service calls, I know exactly what contractors need. That experience will shape every decision made about the school’s curriculum.”

QTC will continue serving Las Vegas-area residents, career changers and military veterans, with programs designed to accelerate entry into the workforce.

Fast-Track Programs Built for Immediate Jobsite Readiness

Training programs are structured to prioritize hands-on experience across core trades, including:

  • Electrician training focused on residential and commercial wiring
  • HVAC/R technology covering installation, maintenance and repair
  • Commercial refrigeration training for diagnostics and service in hospitality and food service applications

The school is also pursuing state approval to expand its program offerings to include plumbing and welding, broadening access to additional career pathways in the skilled trades.

Pipeline Model Designed to Support Contractors

Beyond training students, the new partnership shifts QTC’s role toward becoming a workforce pipeline partner for contractors. The model is designed to provide companies with access to candidates who have been trained and mentored by experienced tradesmen and evaluated against real jobsite expectations.

“Chris and I aren't just owners; we are tradesmen,” added Snowden. “We speak the language of the contractor because we are contractors. Every decision we make for the school is done with one goal in mind: providing the local service industry with a level of talent they can’t find anywhere else.”

Leadership Rooted in Real Trade Experience

Roth’s career in the trades began early, leaving traditional high school at 15 to enroll in a vocational HVAC program at Southeast Career Technical Academy in Las Vegas. He gained hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication and service work before moving into education.

By 19, Roth was teaching HVAC at the College of Southern Nevada, eventually becoming Department Chair of the air conditioning program. He later went on to build three trade schools and multiple service businesses, growing them into eight-figure operations and earning repeated recognition on the Inc. 5000 list.

A graduate of the Birthing of Giants fellowship at M.I.T., Roth remains focused on mentoring the next generation of trades professionals.

Positioning QTC as a Long-Term Workforce Partner

With Roth and Snowden aligned, QTC is positioned to maintain its technical training foundation while strengthening its role as a workforce partner to the contractor community.

The contractor-led model reinforces the school’s long-standing presence in the Las Vegas market while adapting to the evolving hiring needs of service contractors across the region.
