SEATTLE/MUKILTEO, WA — UMC has recently announced two new hires that bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the mechanical contracting firm that has been serving the Pacific Northwest since 1920.

Stephen Deac

Stephen Deac recently joined UMC as an Account Executive in the company's Facility Services Development group. In his role, he will focus on developing and managing healthcare client relationships as well as deploying strategies that inspire operational efficiency throughout the greater Puget Sound area.

Prior to UMC, Deac’s focus was developing projects, retrofits, energy service performance contracts within the healthcare market as well as preventative HVAC/plumbing maintenance contracts throughout Western Washington and Oregon. His career started with hands-on business development experience working with healthcare and life sciences executives and staff implementing state-of-the-art solutions that have a direct impact on patient and staff experiences.

“Stephen is dedicated to serving his clients—as well as his peers—which fits right in with our values,” said Chris Olmsted, Sales Manager. “His service mindset, complex facility experience, and thorough professionalism made him stand out. I’m excited to have Stephen join our team and to see what he can accomplish for UMC’s clients as we continue to grow.”

Willis Gaines

Willis Gaines recently joined UMC as the Building Automation Manager for the company's Building Automation group. In his role, he will work to strategically grow market presence and develop a framework to maintain the group's position as an industry leader.

“The building automation group has worked extremely hard over the past few years to build strong momentum in the market,” said Steve Brooks, President. "Willis’s philosophy of strong customer service is paired well with his organizational leadership. We are at a spot of tremendous growth and his ability to build an organization to deliver through this period and beyond provides our clients tremendous confidence to rely on UMC for their automation work."

With over 33 years in the building automation industry, Gaines has experience across all vertical markets including commercial, high-rise, data centers, healthcare, education, and industrial. In his most recent position, he played a critical role in the growth and development of one of the most well-known building automation solutions providers in the Pacific Northwest.
