Key Highlights

  • The installation involved Rheem's COM255E and TEP125RH models, designed for durability and performance in extreme cold

  • The units feature corrosion protection measures, including magnesium anodes and double polyurethane insulation, suitable for harsh environments

  • Technicians managed the logistics and transport to ensure the units' successful deployment at Marambio Base in Antarctica

SEYMOUR ISLAND, ANTARCTICA — Rheem is celebrating plumbers and their global impact by sharing news on a recent product installation on the far end of the planet.

Seymour Island (also called Marambio Island) is an island in the chain of 16 major islands around the tip of the Graham Land, the closest part of Antarctica to South America. Recently, technicians from the Argentina’s Joint Antarctic Command traveled to the Argentine Air Force's Marambio Base, located on Seymour Island, to install the 255-liter COM255E as well as the 125-liter TEP125RH.

Durability and Performance

The COM255E It features four magnesium anodes that protect the tank from corrosion and extend its service life. The TEP125RH features double polyurethane insulation and dual-layer porcelain enamel coating for added corrosion protection and enhanced resistance to harsh environments.

Both units were selected based on their durability as well as performance under critical climatic conditions, with the goal of supplying a dependable hot water source to the base year-round.

Worldwide Dependability

The operation included overseeing the reception of the units at a logistics cargo center, as part of controlling the transport chain to their final destination. With the installation of the COM255E and TEP125RH models, the hot water supply is now linked to equipment designed to maintain performance in low temperatures.

Through this project, Rheem now has products installed on every continent in the world.
