    NCI members and guests came to Summit 2013 with the goal of learning how to achieve sustainable double-digit net profits and were excited to discover the solution: NCI’s ground-breaking 4-Dimensional Performance-Based Contracting™ Business Model.

    During the opening session, NCI Chairman & CEO Dominick Guarino introduced the unique concept. “It takes focus on the four essential areas of a contracting business to achieve double-digit net profits: Sales & Marketing, Service & Maintenance, Installation & Renovation and Business Management & Leadership. By managing your business with a watchful eye on each of these dimensions, the sky is the limit!”

    The first step is a self-evaluation designed to determine the starting line for each dimension within a contractor’s company. Those who attended the 2013 Summit drilled down deeply into the four essential areas of their businesses, evaluating performance and identifying the strengths and weaknesses within each area. Many were surprised at what they discovered and were anxious to map out a long-term plan addressing problems and building on the strengths of their companies.

    With the help of NCI instructors along with business and technical tools provided by NCI, contractors left the Summit with specific, practical solutions based on NCI’s unique Performance-Based Contracting™ 4-Dimension model.

    Awards Ceremony

    The awards ceremony was a true celebration of NCI members’ passion for Performance-Based Contracting™ and their sustained success in the HVAC industry.

    NCI President Rob Falke explained, “Choosing the winners was extremely difficult, as there are so many contractors devoted to Performance-Based Contracting™ and the success of their companies shows it. The winners and finalists represent contractors who are the best of the best and we are proud to have them associated with National Comfort Institute.”

    NCI members were honored in the following Contractor of the Year categories for training excellence, outstanding achievement in testing, quality service, implementation of NCI best practices and efficiency standards.

    ·       Contractor of the Year (small business category) went to Lakeside Service Company, Brighton, MI. Accepting the award were John and Jason Boylan.

    ·       Contractor of the Year (medium business category) went to KLM Heating and Air Conditioning, Louisville, KY. Accepting the award was Tim Caudill.

    ·       Contractor of the Year (large business category) Wightons.com, San Louis Obispo, CA. Ron Mathias accepted the award.

    A highlight of the awards banquet was the presentation of the award named in honor of the late David Debien for his pioneering work in HVAC system design and installation. This year’s David Debien Technical Excellence Award was presented to Joe Millett of J. Millett & Sons, Inc., Brookfield, MA.

    TheNCI National Training Excellence Award went to Masterworks Mechanical, Inc., for their dedication to Performance-Based Contracting.

    The Industry Partner of the Year Award went to Southern California Edison for their contributions and ongoing efforts in training and education for NCI members and certified contractors.

    CEO Dominick Guarino presented Kathe and Larry Stewart of Precision Air Conditioning & Heating, Memphis, TN, with the 2013 NCI Chairman’s Award. Kathe and Larry were honored with this award due to their staunch support of NCI’s mission, company wide implementation of Performance-Based Contracting™, and for their great contribution of ideas, energy and time.
