GF is celebrating the retirement of Dan Kirkpatrick, a longtime technical field representative whose 37-year career has supported plumbing and HVAC contractors across Canada. Kirkpatrick joined the company in 1988—when it was known as Canapex and later Wirsbo—starting as a design technician before moving into technical field roles that shaped how customers adopted Uponor and GF systems.

A Field Rep Known for Fast, Reliable Technical Support

Over nearly four decades, Kirkpatrick became a go-to resource for radiant heating design, jobsite troubleshooting, and installation support. Colleagues and customers often noted his ability to produce accurate designs in a fraction of the time, paired with the steady presence contractors relied on when deadlines were tight or projects were complex.

“Dan is known for going the extra mile to make sure folks are taken care of, whether it’s for a customer, colleague, friend, or, most likely, someone who fits into several of these categories,” said Nicole Miller, Sales Representative at GF. “He’s incredibly humble, generous, deeply encouraging, and never misses a chance to celebrate others.”

A Career Defined by Craftsmanship and Community Service

Beyond technical work, Kirkpatrick was known for building displays for sales kits, trade shows, and wholesale showrooms. He also brought that same craftsmanship into his community—making wooden furniture, creating Christmas ornaments, sharing homemade pizzas, and handing out coffee and gift cards to brighten someone’s day.

“I’ve known him for close to 25 years,” said Jean-Claude Rémy, Business Development Manager at GF Building Flow Solutions Americas. “He’s full of knowledge, always willing to help, and approaches every conversation with patience and understanding. His volunteer work is something few fully realize, but many have benefited from.”

Impact Felt Across the Canadian Trades Community

Colleagues recall examples of Kirkpatrick stepping up without hesitation—from repiping a house to helping restore a neglected rural graveyard. His most recent project involved recreating original road signs in his hometown of Truax, Saskatchewan to honor families from the community’s past.

A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Kirkpatrick leaves a legacy that spans technical excellence, mentorship, and community impact. GF and Uponor extend heartfelt thanks and best wishes as he begins his retirement.
