TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) recognized T&S Brass with the Compliance Excellency Award for being an Industrial Environmental Steward.
Formally known as Western Carolina Regional Sewer Authority, ReWa promotes a cleaner environment and protects the public health and water quality of South Carolina’s waterways. Presented annually, the Compliance Excellency Awards honor industrial users who have helped ReWa provide a cleaner environment by achieving an excellent record of compliance. Through an intense monitoring of T&S Brass waste water effluent, the manufacturer easily met ReWa’s requirements.
“T&S Brass is dedicated to being an outstanding environmental steward for our community and our customers,” stated Eva-Marie Fox, vice president of marketing. “Water conservation and reliability play a major role in the way we engineer and manufacture our products.”
The Envirochrome Trivalent (CR3) Chromium now used in T&S Brass’ manufacturing process requires less rinse water than the previous system, resulting in water savings. Additionally, the process requires less current, which reduces the amount of energy consumed, and the lower heavy metal concentration reduces waste treatment costs.
“Our objective is to operate an environmentally sound manufacturing process by keeping the metals well below the required limits at all times,” said Ben Guest, T&S Brass supervisor. “T&S recently took one of the largest steps in company history towards becoming more environmentally friendly by converting from a hexavalent chrome plating system to trivalent chrome.”
T&S Brass and other industrial companies will be honored May 5, at the 17th annual Compliance Excellency Awards presentation.
