FALLS CHURCH, VA. – The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry has donated $15,000 to the Imran Khan Scholarship Fund started by the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association.
UA General President Martin Maddaloni presented the $15,000 check to UAC Co-Chair Malcolm Sweet at the Union-Affiliated Contractors’ recent Unity Meeting at the Diplomat Hotel, Hollywood, Fla. Maddaloni expressed his appreciation for the support Norma Khan had provided as a key staff contact between the United Association and the UAC/PHCC.
Imran Khan, 13, is the son of the late Norma Khan, a PHCC staff member who was a victim of the Sept. 11 plane crash into the Pentagon. The fund was established in memory of her service to PHCC and the industry.
With the UA donation, more than $120,000 has been donated to the scholarship fund, PHCC announced in mid-April. UAC Executive Liaison Jim Witten said UAC member and PHCC zone director Mary Garvelink was instrumental in initiating the fund.
Contributions may be sent to the PHCC Educational Foundation Scholarship Fund, 180 S. Washington St., Falls Church, VA 22046. Indicate either on a check or an attached sheet of paper indicating that you would like the donation to be made toward the Imran Khan Scholarship Fund.
