CHARLOTTE, NC. — Charlotte Pipe and Foundry is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, marking more than a century of manufacturing pipe and fittings in the United States.

Founded in 1901 by W. Frank Dowd, the fifth-generation, family-owned company has grown from a local foundry into one of the nation's largest manufacturers of cast iron and plastic pipe and fittings. Today, Charlotte Pipe operates eight manufacturing facilities across the country and employs approximately 1,800 associates.

As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, the company continues its long-standing commitment to American manufacturing.

“It’s an exciting and monumental year for both our country and our company,” Charlotte Pipe and Foundry CEO, Hooper Hardison said. “We’re proud to say we’ve been manufacturing domestically for half of America’s history, and we can’t wait to celebrate this incredible milestone with our associates who made it all possible.”

Charlotte Pipe has planned a series of anniversary celebrations throughout the year, including company picnics and commemorative giveaways recognizing the associates who have contributed to the company's success over the past 125 years.
