MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. — Google will buy smart thermostat maker Nest Laboratories for $3.2 billion, both the New York Times and CNN Money reported.
Nest was co-founded by former Apple designer Tony Fadell, who will continue on as CEO. The company, which makes other smart, connected devices such as CO and smoke detectors, will continue to operate under its own name, CNN reported.
Google released the following statement:
