Harrell-Fish Expands Indiana Mechanical Platform with Ecofriendly Acquisition

BLOOMINGTON, IN — Harrell-Fish, LLC has acquired Ecofriendly Mechanical, expanding its mechanical contracting platform with added HVAC, heating and energy-efficiency capabilities in the Bloomington market.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The move comes just months after Harrell-Fish partnered with New State Capital Partners and signals continued consolidation activity in the regional mechanical services market.

Local Contractor Adds Four Decades of Market Presence

Also based in Bloomington, Ecofriendly Mechanical has served residential and commercial customers for more than 40 years.

The family-owned company built its reputation around heating, air conditioning and sustainable mechanical solutions, with an emphasis on service quality and customer experience.

For Harrell-Fish, the acquisition adds an established brand, skilled workforce and long-standing customer relationships in a familiar local market.

Leadership Team Remains in Place

Ecofriendly’s management team, including CEO Andy Hardisty, will remain with the business following the acquisition.

That continuity can be especially important for contractors and service companies where customer retention, technician relationships and local trust are core assets.

Expanded Capabilities in Sustainable Mechanical Services

HFI said the combination of its operating resources and Ecofriendly’s focus on energy-efficient systems will strengthen service capabilities and broaden resources available to customers.

That may include increased capacity for retrofit work, preventative maintenance, replacement projects and sustainability-driven upgrades.

For contractors, acquisitions centered on complementary capabilities often create stronger year-round service platforms rather than simple geographic expansion.

Employees and Customers Positioned for Continuity

Ecofriendly leadership said the transition is expected to preserve service standards while creating additional growth opportunities for employees.

New State Capital Partners said the acquisition reflects the broader opportunity it sees in the fragmented mechanical services market.

The deal was completed roughly four months after the investment firm established its platform with HFI.

For contractors across the industry, the trend continues to show investor interest in HVAC, plumbing and mechanical businesses with strong local brands, recurring service revenue and expansion potential.
