INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Home to both the NBA’s Indiana Pacers and the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, Gainbridge Fieldhouse has been described as the best building in the country to watch a basketball game. In addition to professional basketball, the fieldhouse hosts Grammy-award winning artists for concerts, NCAA basketball games, World Wrestling Entertainment shows, Cirque du Soleil, and much more.
But after hosting countless games and performances since its opening in November, 1999, it was time for Gainbridge Fieldhouse to undergo renovations, including the installation of a large outdoor plaza and a brand-new standing-room platform on the arena’s top level. Given the evolving nature of restroom hygiene since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the facility maintenance team at Gainbridge knew sustainable restroom products were a must. Sloan’s variety of high-quality, touch-free restroom products—combined with modern aesthetics and a futuristic flair—proved to be the perfect fit for Gainbridge as it returned to full capacity.
“Sloan truly became our partner as we thought through every touch point of the guest experience in our restrooms," says Mel Raines, President and COO, Pacers Sports and Entertainment and Gainbridge Fieldhouse. "I cannot imagine a better partner to take us to the next level of innovation in this increasingly critical area of our business.”
Hoosier State Hygiene
A key element of this plan involved the use of Sloan’s BASYS® EFX-200/250 Sensor Faucets and matching ESD-500 Soap Dispensers throughout the main concourse level. In addition to their hygienic benefits, these faucets promote sustainability through features like automatic shut-off, three spray modules to adjust flow rate, sleep mode, and more. Throughout the concourse, Sloan’s ST-2459 Water closets and SU-1009 Urinals were paired with sensor-operated Crown® 186 and 111 ESS Flushometers, respectively, to help Gainbridge increase water savings and meet water efficiency goals.
Look Good, Feel Good
Throughout the Lower Bowl level suites, the fieldhouse specified Sloan’s ST-2469 Water Closets and SU-1019 Urinals—both of which feature SloanTec® Hydrophobic Glaze to repel liquids and inhibit the growth of germs and bacteria, making the fixtures easier to clean and maintain.
The Future is Now
While Sloan’s touch-free faucets, soap dispensers, and flushometers are featured throughout the fieldhouse, a visit to the arena’s Caresource Courtside Club offers an exciting peak into the future. There, visitors will find Sloan’s Touch-free Restroom of the Future pilot initiative, an entirely hands-free experience that includes sensor-activated entry door, flood detection sensors, and more.
Restrooms at the Caresource Courtside Club showcase digital signage outside to indicate restroom capacity to help manage social distancing and streamline traffic. The restrooms also include AD-81000 and AD-82000 AER-DEC® Integrated Sink Systems, which feature Sloan’s innovative BASYS Guided Handwashing Faucets. The faucets display an LED screen customized with the Caresource and Pacers logos and provide a 20-second countdown to guide guests as they complete the handwashing process. The restrooms also feature Sloan’s SU-7409 Designer Urinal with dependable performance that has never looked better.
