Sloan supports 'Wiffle for a Diffle' wiffle ball fundraiser for Chicago children at Wrigley Field
FRANKLIN PARK, IL — Sloan, the “green” plumbing leader, tackled a replica of Fenway’s Green Monster at Wrigley Field in Chicago—all for the sake of charity. Sloan participated in the inaugural Wiffle for a Diffle on Aug. 10, a corporate wiffle ball tournament and celebrity event, hosted by the Wood Family Foundation, to raise money for Chicago children.
Sloan was one of 16 corporate teams in the tournament that were coached by a celebrity and played on scaled-down versions of famous ballparks, including the Boston Red Sox’s Fenway Park, on the field at Wrigley. The corporate games were followed by a celebrity home run derby, pitched by former Chicago Cub Kerry Wood who now works with his family foundation, and a celebrity wiffle ball game that was played and coached by numerous stars, such as Bill Murray, Jenny McCarthy, George Wendt and Matthew Perry.
In addition to sponsoring its wiffle ball team, Sloan donated prize bags that were awarded to winners of the family scavenger hunt held at the historic ballpark.
The Wood Family Foundation supports numerous programs and events for needy Chicago children, such as a baseball clinic, Warm Wishes holiday giving and a scholarship fund.
