Bernzomatic Investment Boosts PHCC Scholarship Program for Future Contractors

FALLS CHURCH, VA — The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association (PHCC) Educational Foundation has added Bernzomatic as a major sponsor of its scholarship program, expanding funding to support the next generation of plumbing and HVAC professionals.
The investment will fund more than 50 new scholarships through 2029, targeting students pursuing apprenticeships, service technician training and industry-related college programs.
Scholarship Funding Supports Workforce Pipeline
The expanded program is designed to help address ongoing labor shortages by reducing financial barriers for individuals entering the trades.
For contractors, increased access to training support can help attract new talent while developing more skilled, job-ready employees.

Reducing Cost Barriers for New and Transitioning Workers
While trade education is often more affordable than traditional college, upfront costs can still be a challenge—especially for entry-level workers or those changing careers.
The PHCC Foundation’s scholarships help offset those costs, allowing students to focus on training and skill development rather than financial strain.
Contractors Benefit from Employee Participation
Contractors who already invest in training can also benefit from the program. Scholarship awards can offset employer-funded training expenses, freeing up budget for additional workforce development or business needs.

Expanded Funding Increases 2026 Awards
With Bernzomatic’s support, the Foundation plans to award approximately 80 scholarships in 2026, with up to $200,000 in total funding available.
Applications are due May 1, with awards determined by a panel of contractor volunteers and winners announced in early August.
